Sunday cosy Sunday

I’m proud to tell you: I’m a London girl now! As most of you may already know I moved to London on Thursday to start my Postgraduate in Fashion Journalism here tomorrow.

It’s strange to see how London and the UK in general tries to be different in so many things. There are still a lot of things I will have to get used to: driving on the left – can’t even count the times I’ve been surprised about where the cars are coming from, locks going the other side around, not being able to plug in my laptop at random places.

Ever since I arrived here, I’ve been living at 200 miles an hour. Love the vibe the city gives me. I feel like I can take up the world. Today is the first day I had a rather relaxing day. I woke up to do some Skyping with my best friend to see what the updates are from Belgium – a girl has to catch up on her gossip, even when she is abroad! After that I went to the cutest jumble sale at Pimlico where a friend of mine was selling some of her stuff. I bumped into a copy of the book ‘One day’ – you’ve probably seen the film. I bought the thing for 50p! There was so much stuff, quite overwhelming. Of course not everything is flawless but I spotted some designer bags from Mulberry and Marc Jacobs blouses. Definitely need to go back there!

So here is my Sunday in pics.

Women on a mission

Let me introduce to you my new monthly piece! I’m super excited about it because it is all about the women that inspire me with their ambitions, way of life and actions.

Although I’m currently staying in London, my first woman on a mission is a Belgian girl. I had the opportunity to take a peek in her artistic brain through her studio. She is a very talented jewel designer with an inspiring vision. Her work is original and will appeal to a lot of women out there. When I first got in touch with some of her jewellery on her website, I completely fell in love with these pink teapots she made. So you can imagine the amount of happiness I was experiencing when she gave me this necklace as a going-away present. I’m proud to walk this baby around in Londontown and of course in my Fashion School. All publicity is good publicity right? So Els, I’m kind of your Marketing Manager out here! ;)

Growing up in an artistic family, art comes natural to her and you can tell. She has a natural feel for all things beautiful.

Take a look down here to see the magical world of Els Louwette. To see more of her work go to this website. Spread the word!

Last week’s madness

It has been a while since I last talked to you, so hi there! It has been a crazy but great week. I came back from la bella Italia last Tuesday and Thursday morning I found myself in a plane to London town for a hectic house hunt. I can now say I have seen London the way it really is, when you’re not in the tourist zone. Although I some real bad addresses to live, I found a place to stay for 5 months while I will be studying there.

Of course it was not all work and no play in LDN. My dad and I did some extreme ’touristing’ whenever we had an hour of time – read run to St. Paul’s, the Millennium Bridge, the London Bridge, Trafalgar Square, Picadilly Circus, Regent Street etc. I can tell you, I was exhausted when I got back home! But o how I enjoyed every minute of it. I’m so super excited to move to London the 26th. The city is almost like a drug to me, I love the billions of people running around, the take-out food, the fastness.

I came back to Belgium Saturday evening and yesterday I had a cool get-together with my friends at home, to celebrate me leaving. J I can understand their happiness though – just kidding. It was a kind of all British tea party, resulting in getting French fries after all. Got some cool gifts also, more on that later. And no Daan, there will be no pictures of yours!

Bella Italia

Sometimes you just need a break from reality to put everything back into perspective. And that’s what Italy has done for me so far. It has been great out here, loving every second of it. In the last two days we visited Malcésine, a small city at Lake Garda and Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet.

Both typical Italian cities with a lot of colourful houses, great sculptures, fresco’s and amazing churches. Feeling pretty cultural out here! So my camera is working overtime trying to shoot all this beauty. But pictures never seem to capture the entire experience of the whole thing. You have to see it with your own eyes!

I also managed to pick up some true Italian beauty products. They are all so good for your skin and have a really nice scent. *Wishing I could import a whole lot more!*

Take a look at my photo diary to have an idea of what dream I’m living in here!
