Growing up

As some of you might already know, I’m leaving for London very very soon. Starting a new adventure and discovering a whole new culture *excited*! I got accepted to attend the London College of Fashion, which is a part of the University of the Arts in London. I will be studying Fashion and Lifestyle Journalism with some exceptional fellow students from all over the world.

In a few days I’m leaving for a last holiday to Italy and after that, I’ll be house hunting in one of the Fashion Capitals of the world. Nice detail: it will be London Fashion Week during my short stay there! I will definitely try to spot some celebs or fashionable people for you guys.

Either way, I’m super excited to start this new period of my life. Besides all the things I will be learning throughout this experience, I’m also very much intrigued by the London Fashion scène which I will be living in 24/7. London boys and girls have a very specific style, which is very different from the Belgian one. They will surely inspire me to take a step out of my comfort zone and try something new. The London uniform to me is: a jeans short, loose T-shirt and creepers. Their hair is preferably dyed ombré or has some extravagant colour.

Curious about what will happen to me during my stay in London? Then stay tuned and follow me on Twitter (Karin_Cuppens) and Instagram (karinc90) for a daily update!

True London girl: Rita Ora. I think she is a great influence nowadays for the London girl. I love all of her styles. She can go from super casual to fancyspancy!

Tip it up

In a crazy hair mood? Then I’ve got some good news for you! I’ve tested a tutorial with which you can colour the tips of your hair – like an ombré – and still be able to wash it out after a day. Easy and budget proof!

All you need are some pastels and a hair product like leave-in conditioner or some oil. If you follow these steps you will get instant rock ‘n roll hair.

Step 1: Comb out your hair and slap in some oil. I used my Mythic Oil from L’Oreal.

Step 2: Spray some water on the tips of your hair. This will make it easier for the pastel to stay in your hair.

Step 3: Start colouring in your hair. I choose a light pink shade but you can go for any crazy colour.

I prefer to wear this hairstyle in a ponytail. It gives certain edginess to your haircut but you will have to prepared to take in some negative comments because not everyone is as cool as us!

I’m thinking about actually dying the tips of my hair in this colour and wanted to test it if it would fit me. And I have to say… I’m sold! Stay tuned for the make-over!

Beautiful secrets

You are one lucky reader today because I decided to give you a sneak-peek into my beauty rituals during the summer. These products will protect you, repair some damage and most of all make you smell delightful.

 Eau Ravissante – L’Occitane

This Eau de Cologne is perfect for a hot summer day, like the past few days. You can use this flower water on your whole body. It has a strong female and floral scent. You will feel fresh and gorgeous.

Cacao shower cream – Ziaja

I picked up this wonderful shower cream in Croatia during my holiday there in the Konzum. It has a great texture but most of all I like the kind of caramel candy scent it leaves behind. It will soften your skin, so that deserves some points as well. I already regret not taking more tubes back home – so dear friends of mine that are travelling to Croatia, you know how to please me!
Mattifying cream – Essence

I use this pink day cream under my foundation because it will stop some of my glowing skin. Of course, during extremely hot days, nothing will save you!

Hair shampoo Sun – Wella

This shampoo has been by my side every day after sunbathing. It tries to repair the damage done to your fabulous hair by the sun. Sadly you can only buy it in a hairdresser salon, so you can imagine it comes at a higher price than your normal shampoo.
Mythic Oil – L’Oreal

It seems like a bad plan to spray oil into your hair, but it works! It makes sure that my hair doesn’t dry out completely. But I would suggest not using it when you just did your whole hair because it tends to make your hair kind of greasy. I normally apply it before I go to bed and know I have to do my hair the next morning.

Body Cream – Rituals

If you have ever used products of Rituals before, you know they are great! This body cream really nurtures your skin and smells like something you never smelled before but in a good way. And as we all know, it is important to hydrate your skin during the summer to make sure your tan will stay longer. So start smearing!
Shimmer – Essence

This palette of different tones of gold is perfect for blondes. I mostly use it as a blush but you can also use it on your eyes and the rest of your body if you want to shimmer like a disco ball.

So there you go, my beauty secrets revealed. What are your beauty essentials this season?

Interfriensions

Sometimes you need your girlfriends to wake you up and free you from a path that you’ve been on for a long time. But of course you can do this in a fun way – read drinks, swimming, tanning and relaxing.

For our interfriension we went all the way – because she is worth it! – with the whole relaxing package. If you’re planning an interfrienson for one of your friends, here are some things you need to know.

1. Make sure he/she is available and tell him/her that you will be spending the afternoon with some friends.

2. Surprise your friend by saying what you’re up to just before you leave. Bring food, drinks and all things necessary to facilitate a good, long talk.

3. LISTEN to what your friend is saying. Make sure you get through to them and make them feel extra *special*.

4. Yay, your friend is back in business, being awesome as always!

So go out and make it happen!

Sunlight hitting my eyes

The weather has been good to us lately! Everyone is feeling the summer vibe that leads to a lot of BBQ’s, swimming, chilling and tanning. No complaints here! I love all things summer.

Yesterday a couple of girlfriends and I decided to take a mini-roadtrip to the sea. The ultimate chilling experience! We gossiped, tanned, had some drinks and drove back home totally ‘zen’. I can recommend it to everyone who might be experiencing some – does this even exist? – Summer stress.

Now indulge some pictures of the summer of my life!

To the bone: the fish bone braid

Okay, I can not hide my love for all casual hairstyles any longer. So I decided to give you a peak into the secret world of the fish bone braid.
After rocking this hairstyle a couple of times already – and receiving a lot of compliments on it – I will now enlighten you on how to look fishy. J

Step 1: Comb your hair. Not fun, but necessary.

Step 2: Divide your hair into two parts.

Step 3: Take a small amount of hair from one part and bring it to the middle of the other side.

Step 4: Now do the same with a piece of hair from the other part.

Step 5: Continue with this until you have a full braid. The key to success with this is to really work with small amounts of hair – this will take a while but it will be worth it, I promise!

Step 6: Be the star of your own show!

Special thanks to my girl Hanne. Soon to be rockstar! Check her Tumblr here!

Some days are special

Happy birthday to one of my best friends!
Keep on rocking the place! I am super proud of you.

Summer sales: the aftermath

Summer sales have come to an end – although there are still a lot of stores that have a pile of bargains laying there, waiting for you to be bought. I decided to put all my sales items together the other day and was kind of surprised of the amount of items I purchased. I didn’t really go on a whole day shopping spree during the July sales but managed to buy one item – or maybe two – at a time.

Still, I love all these items and have already worn them all at least once. So, no real shame there! Yay!
But of course everyone has their favourites and so do I. Here is my top 3 of this year’s Summer sales.

1. The tribal necklace

This beauty was a real bargain as it was 70% off! I found it at Zara after I had seen it already some weeks ago on a colleague at Elle. I loved this piece of jewellery the minute I saw it so my heart skipped a beat when I spotted it at Zara.

2. The Chanel-look-a-like jacket

This creamy jacket has it all! You can wear with almost anything and it will make you look elegant and sophisticated. Big up for Zara again! J

3. Crazy print pants

When my mom saw me in these pants, she wasn’t too excited at first. But needless to say I adored it. I love prints and especially this 90’s feel on these pants. I scored this piece at Urban Outfitters in Brussels for 50% off. We love the 90’s!
